Chair's Letter
|
World English Dictionary: culture (ˈkʌltʃə) - n
1. the total of the inherited ideas, beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action
2. the total range of activities and ideas of a group of people with shared traditions, which are transmitted and reinforced by members of the group: e.g. the Finance and Administration Roundtable (FAR) culture
Full disclosure - the World English Dictionary cited the Mayan Culture in its definition of culture within members of a group. Nonetheless, I believe we can translate that specific culture example for ours as we define what is accepted "shared bases of social action" within the FAR culture.
As I begin to reflect on my past years in FAR and my most recent experience as your Chair, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out examples of what I believe are our "shared traditions."

FAR Membership Campaign
|
The Finance and Administration Roundtable is growing - but we can always use more members, especially members from the non-profit association sector! To promote additional growth in our non-profit membership community, our membership committee has developed a "Member Get a Member" campaign exclusively aimed at association non-profits. We have a one-page fact sheet you can pass along to your clients or prospects (click here to download). Please click here to download a form you can complete and send to the FAR office (email hq@far-roundtable.org, fax 202 962-3939) if you'd prefer to have them follow-up.
This campaign will run until the end of August, 2012. Non-profit members who join now at the $105 rate will have membership benefits through August 2013. Until the end of August, if you, as a current FAR member, sponsor a new non-profit member, your name will be placed in a drawing where you'll be eligible to receive awards (more on those later, but expect one of the prizes will be a round of golf at the Robert Trent Jones golf course on Lake Manassas, VA) in addition to the recognition you'll receive from your clients and peers. So, pass along the attached documents to your clients and prospects. They'll thank you for introducing them to the premier place for non-profit professionals to learn about trends in finance and administration, as well as advance their own professional development.
