Jeannette Chapman is the Director of The Stephen S. Fuller Institute in the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. At the Institute, she examines the Washington region’s economy, demographics and housing market. Jeannette has been with George Mason University since 2013. Prior to joining George Mason University, she was the Research Associate for Economic Growth and Development at the Downtown DC Business Improvement District where she analyzed the major sectors of the downtown D.C. economy. Jeannette received bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in Public Policy from George Mason
Description: This presentation will examine economic trends and conditions in the Washington region including a focus on (1) the historic drivers of growth, (2) the pre-pandemic patterns, (3) the effect of the pandemic, and (4) its near-term outlook.
Learning Objectives:
1. Key factors that have affected the Washington region’s economy.
2. How the Washington region’s economy has performed relative to the US and the region’s peer metros.
3. Current and near-term impacts of the pandemic on the regional economy.
