Drawing on research from over 60 interviews with exceptional leaders, Joanne Irving will explore the key characteristics and strategies that leaders can use to foster a positive, resilient culture within their organization. Attendees will learn how to define their own signature strengths as a leader and use these to build capacity in themselves and others. They will also learn how to harness the power of curiosity and courage to navigate stress and make effective decisions in challenging situations.

Throughout the talk, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how turbulent times can be an opportunity to strengthen their organization and team. By focusing on inclusivity and fostering a dynamic culture, leaders can create a more resilient and adaptable organization that is better equipped to weather any storm.

    Joanne Irving, Ph.D. works at the intersection of business and psychology, helping influential and accomplished leaders improve professional and business outcomes, organizational performance and the quality of life for themselves and those around them.

    She is a leadership expert who specializes in helping CEOs and other senior executives at large and mid-size companies and has advised executives at some of the world’s most successful organizations including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Federal Department of Defense, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Pfizer, AARP, Atlantic Health Systems, and General Electric to name but a few.

      SEIU Conference Center: Please note SEIU is a secured building, and you will need to present a valid photo ID upon entry. Security will direct you to the location where the session is being held.

      SEIU requires that masks must be worn entering and exiting the building. You may take off your mask when you arrive to your designated conference room. 

      Parking: Underground paid garage parking is available, but space is limited; entry into the garage is located on 18th Street. There are also other nearby parking garages as well as limited metered street parking.

      Metro: Closest stop is the Dupont Circle Station (south station exit) on the Red Line. Upon exit from the station walk towards 18th Street along Massachusetts Avenue; the SEIU Conference Center is located on the right-hand side almost immediately adjacent to Dupont Circle.
